Aqua (water) based creams and lotions need tons of preservatives to minimize the risk of growing mold and bacteria in them, that’s why the commercial body butters and creams include a whole bunch of preservatives and chemicals. This homemade whipped body butter is the best moisturizer for your body without any preservatives and chemicals. It’s excellent for all types of skin. It forms a protective barrier over the skin, reduces wrinkles, and soothes eczema, rashes, and cracked skin. It will spread smoothly on your skin and nourish your skin with vitamins and antioxidants. The best time to apply it is right after a shower or bath.

Add a pretty label or tie a beautiful ribbon around the jar to dress it up and you’ve got a fantastic homemade gift.
A few years ago, I started learning about the importance of using safe and all-natural ingredients on the skin although I was already paying attention to what I was eating and feeding my family. After the birth of my daughter, this homemade whipped body butter was one of the first skincare products I learned to make and I’m proud to say that I have never used any drugstore body creams for my daughter. So if you’re concerned about eating healthy and clean food, you should be paying attention to using natural body products!

Another benefit of making homemade body butter is that you can control and customize the ingredients to your personal needs and know exactly what is in your product. It is super easy to make. Give it a try and enjoy all the skin-nourishing goodness of homemade whipped body butter. You’ll love the feeling of having silky and soft skin.
How long can I store this whipped body butter
- Since this whipped body butter doesn’t contain water, it has a long shelf life and can last for as long as six months if stored in a clean airtight container in a cool and dry place and kept away from direct sunlight and water.
- If you live somewhere very warm or during summertime, you might have to store this body butter in the refrigerator.

Step-by-step instructions to make whipped body butter
Step 1:
Prepare your double boiler. To do it, simply pour an inch or two of water into a pot and then place a bowl inside over top.

Step 2:
Add the shea butter and coconut oil in a double boiler.

Step 3:
Melt them over low to medium heat.

Step 4:
Allow the mixture to cool completely until the oils solidify. I usually leave mine at room temperature overnight, but you can place it in the fridge or freezer to cool quicker.

Step 5:
Once the mixture is completely cooled and slightly solidified, transfer to a mixing bowl and add Vitamin E oil.

Step 6:
Use a hand beater or stand mixer to whip it. Spoon into a clean air-tight jar and seal with a lid. Label and store in a cool and dry place for later use.
