What is Masala Soda
Masala soda is a refreshing South Asian drink made with lemon juice, spices, and sparkling water. It is tangy, spicy, and bubbly, and it tastes just like the street-style version.
This street-style masala soda drink is a quick, refreshing, and tangy drink you can easily make at home. I make this almost every weekend, and everyone in the family loves it!

This drink also reminds me of my college days when we used to grab a cold glass of masala soda from local vendors on hot summer afternoons. It’s still one of my favourite ways to stay hydrated and refreshed.
Last year, I tested the recipe and made a cleaner, healthier version without losing the classic taste. Since then, we make it almost every weekend because it is that addictive.
This homemade masala soda recipe is clean, fresh, and full of vitamin C. It helps with digestion after a heavy meal and takes only a few minutes to prepare.
This version includes a small pinch of chaat masala, which gives the drink a spicy, tangy flavour just like the street-style ones. It’s simple, light, and full of citrus flavours. Make it this weekend to beat the heat and enjoy every bubbly sip!
Enjoy this fizzy, citrusy drink to beat the heat and let me know how you liked it!

Recipe Notes
- You can use Sprite instead of sparkling water. Reduce sugar if using Sprite.
- Adjust the spices to your taste.
- Add a pinch of black pepper powder for extra spice.
- Replace sugar with honey or maple syrup.
- For a low-carb masala soda, use stevia instead of brown sugar or shakkar.

Tip: How to Get More Lemon Juice
Microwave the lemon for 25 – 30 seconds before cutting it. Let it cool, then cut and squeeze as usual. You will get more juice with very little effort. This simple microwave trick is a total game-changer for citrus fruits!
Storage Tips
Masala soda is best enjoyed fresh. You can prepare the spice mix and lemon juice in advance, but always add sparkling water just before serving to keep it fizzy.
